Course Summary:
This course is a basic introduction to Database/2 (DB2), IBM's Relational Data Base Management System. It will present the student with a comprehensive overview of the DB2 Product and how it relates to their current environment.

Target Audience:
All personnel who will be working with DB2 and wish a comprehensive overview of the functions of DB2, the DB2 product family and how to utilise DB2 in their current environment.

Recommended Prerequisites:
An understanding of TSO is helpful but not necessary.

Course Objectives:
After completing this course, the student should be able to:

  • Describe the objects that comprise a Relational Database
  • Describe the components that make up the DB2 Product
  • Describe the tabular format of data and how these tables are related
  • Describe the DB2 Environment and its associated attachments
  • Describe the functions of the Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Describe the purpose of the various IBM supplied Relational Products
