Course Summary:
This course will concentrate on the operations of a Parallel Sysplex. In addition the student will learn new operator prerequisites, types of sysplexes, its features and components.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for Computer Operators to Manage a Parallel Sysplex. It will include recovery procedures for subsystems, as well as, what procedures to follow when rebuilding is required.
Recommended Prerequisites:
The participant should have a basic understanding of the z/OS Operating System, MVS/JES2/VTAM/CICS/DB2 Commands, and a working knowledge of the Hardware Master Console.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
Identify the major hard/software components of a Base and Parallel SYSPLEX
Identify the z/OS environments which support a parallel SYSPLEX, including the S/390 microprocessor cluster
Define groups, members and communication links between participating systems
Understand the role of the z/OS Coupling Facility in providing shared data access using parallel processor architecture
Understand and use the system commands to support a Parallel SYSPLEX
