Course Summary:
An entry-level CICS course designed to provide the accomplished COBOL, PL/I or Assembler programmer with all the skills necessary to code, test and debug CICS programs.

Target Audience:
Application programmers and analysts who design, code, and debug CICS applications.

Recommended Prerequisites:
Some program development experience using COBOL, PL/I or Assembler.

Course Objectives:

To provide students with the tools to code CICS programs

To introduce the concepts of on-line processing through CICS

To give a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of Pseudo-conversational Programming,
    COMMAREA, and Modified Data Tags (MDT's)

To provide a working knowledge of Basic Mapping Support (BMS)

To provide thorough knowledge of VSAM file operations in CICS

To introduce structured programming concepts and techniques in CICS

To provide good examples of CICS programs

Introduction to CICS concepts and terminology

CICS command format syntax

CICS supplied transactions

Exception processing techniques

Terminal communications

Basic Mapping Support (BMS)

VSAM file operations

Temporary Storage queues

Transient Data queues

Interval Control processing
