Course Summary:
This course is designed to cater for the needs of the new Application Developer not familiar with the COBOL programming language. The course teaches the design, coding and testing of COBOL application programs.

Target Audience:
New application developers who require formal training in the basic COBOL language and programming techniques.

Recommended Prerequisites:
The course is taught on a PC platform using the Fujitsu COBOL compiler. Knowledge in the usage of the PC keyboard, MS Windows operating system and a text processing programing will be required. Some previous knowledge of hexadecimal arithmetic would also be helpful.

Course Objectives:
After completing this course, the student would have acquired a working knowledge of the basic tools of COBOL. They will gain a solid foundation in the fundamentals of COBOL coding including program structure, design, execution and debugging. The concepts of structured programming are stressed with examples and explanation. The course starts with the basics and builds with hands-on assignments until the delegates are capable of complex programming logic and design.
