Course Summary:
The course covers all practical aspects of the z/OS storage administratorís job including media, space and data management. It looks at the tasks which need to be performed and covers the theoretical background to ensure a proper understanding.

Target Audience:
This course is suitable for storage administrators and systems programmers who are responsible for managing data and data subsystems within the installation.

Recommended Prerequisites:
Delegates are expected to have an understanding of z/OS which may be obtained from out Introduction to z/OS course and TSO/ISPF which may be obtained from our TSO/ISPF Workshop course.

Course Objectives:
This course provides an in-depth look at z/OS JCL and an overview of job processing throughput the system. It covers all releases of z/OS, including SMS specific parameters. After completing this course, the student should be able to:

  • Better understand job flow and improve system throughput.
  • Diagnose and resolve JCL problems.
  • Optimise equipment use through proper allocation of resources.
  • Improve programmer efficiency and reduce program test time.
  • Decrease ABEND job numbers and make better use of capacity.
